The signs are all pointing to a immanent release of the BlackBerry Storm 2. Under the “upcoming section” on vodafones German website we can see that the storm 2 is indeed coming soon. The last few days have seen a dramatic rise on news about the storm 2 with rumors such as a buy one get one free deal at verizon and a £30p/m deal at vodafone. All we need now is for RIM to finally make it official. But when will that be….?

Its getting closer! The last few days has seen a dramatic rise in the number of Blackberry Storm 2 videos on youtube. Check out this video for a great breakdown on what could be the features on the new phone.

Rumour has it that Vodafone UK is set to release the Storm 2 (9520) in October while Verizon is still on for a Storm 2 (9550) release in November. However news have been coming thick and fast out of the RIM rumour mill so don’t be surprised if it gets delayed for a few months. With the recently release of more blackberry’s and the development of Blackberry OS 5 it may well be a case of sit tight and hope RIM can work their magic sooner rather then later.

Storm2 First look

The previous Blackberry Storm was a great success with many wondering when the next piece of masterful technology will be released. Blackberry have now confirmed that it will be released within the next 6 months, with an expected release in September/October. The exact dates have not yet been confirmed though. The images currently circulating the internet are not the official ones that Blackberry want you to see. They have been leaked from a trial amongst consumers. The large touchscreen differing from Blackberrys traditional approach of the QWERTY keyboard. Improved WiFi and a better user interface are the main improvements from the original Storm. The camera however remains at the same 3.15 megapixel standard that was seen previously. Storm 2 is claimed to be “an even better pro-consumer device than the first Storm”. This is in the hope that Blackberry can compete with the likes on Apple iPhone and the Nokia N97, both proving popular amongst customers currently. The Storm however is also proving a success and many current customers may be interested by the new model due to launched later this year.
